What is the New Time
Change All About?
The US Energy Policy Act of 2005 (EPACT)
has mandated that Daylight Saving Time (DST) in the United States of America start on the second Sunday in March and end on the first Sunday in November starting in 2007.
The new start and stop dates will be March 9 and November 2, respectively. The start date for DST in the US was previously the first Sunday of April and the end date
was the last Sunday of October.
The majority of computer systems will need to be patched
or updated in order to properly reflect the new changes
in DST. Windows based systems can be easily patched by
purchasing our easy-to-use Windows DST tool below or by
following the technical instructions from Microsoft
which can be found here. Sun Java runtimes also must be
patched on every system running it. The problem with
Java Runtime Environments (JRE) is that most systems
have multiple occurrences of the runtime (i.e. 1.42,
1.50, etc.) and each needs to be patched individually.
You can avoid patching each instance manually by
purchasing our Java Runtime DST Tool below or you
can follow the instructions by Sun Microsystems which
can be found here.
